Kathryn has executive leadership experience leveraging technology effectively across businesses ranging from startup companies to multi-billion dollar global enterprises in healthcare, financial services, public sector, and the commercial software market.
Kathryn is a nationally recognized thought leader in healthcare analytics and author of a unique ‘enterprise business intelligence’ strategy and implementation model that creates the foundation for building cultures of accountability and performance management excellence. Her business technology expertise and leadership also include healthcare operations, strategic planning, enterprise analytics, balanced scorecards, data governance, data warehouses and dashboards, clinical informatics, health information technology architecture and planning, electronic health records, health information exchanges, and regulatory compliance. Her past leadership roles include Principal and Founder of the Strategic Technology Solutions practice within ESG and Vice President of Software Engineering for eOriginal, a commercial software company specializing in electronic signature solutions. Kathryn served as Assistant Vice President of Application Services for MedStar Health where she was responsible for hospital clinical and financial software implementation initiatives including emerging e-health and data warehousing initiatives. She has also held a variety of other corporate leadership and technology positions supporting analytics, strategy, operations, and performance improvement for MedStar Health, Helix Health, and Department of Defense organizations including Northrop Grumman/Westinghouse.
Kathryn serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Maryland Chapter of the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS). She is also Chair of the Maryland HIMSS Programs Committee and Past Chair of the Advocacy Committee where was recognized by national HIMSS as the Advocate of the Year. She also serves as a Board Member on the Health Information Exchange Policy Board for the Maryland Health Care Commission responsible for shaping health information exchange policy in Maryland. She is also a member of the Project Management Institute, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, The Data Governance Institute, and The Data Warehousing Institute.
She enjoys speaking engagements and most recently moderated for City of Hope, Catholic Health Initiatives and presented again with Cleveland Clinic at the HIMSS national conference. Kathryn was honored to jointly receive The Data Warehousing Institute Best Practices Award with Cleveland Clinic, as their solutions partner, for their innovation and excellence in Performance Management.
Kathryn recently provided industry expertise to the first edition Healthcare Business Intelligence Market Study, published in the Wisdom of Crowds® research series, created in collaboration with Dresner Advisory Services. She contributed to The Advisory Board‘s “Building the Foundation for Analytics: Accelerating Data Warehousing Efforts Through Enhanced Data Quality” and was acknowledged for her case study insights offered for the book authored by Howard Dresner entitled “Profiles in Performance: Business intelligence Journeys and the Roadmap for Change.”
Kathryn holds a Master of Science degree in Technical Program Management from the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Information Management from West Chester University.
